The time of breaking fast is everyones favourite time of day during Ramadan! Is there a specific du'a to say when breaking fast? How can we benefit from this time?
Aside from staring hungrily at food while waiting for the Maghrib adhan, there are other ways to make the most of the moments before iftaar...
Shaykh Waleed Basyouni gives some tips
I had this question in regards to what to say upon breaking the fast.
Upon breaking the fast, it is highly recommended for the person to make dua. That means right before iftar, while you are making iftar, you should not delay the iftar to make dua. That's what we highly recommend for you to do, and to pray to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'aala and to thank Him for this blessed opportunity to worship Him through one of the greatest acts of worship, which is fasting.
There have been narrated specific duas like Allahumma laka samtu ala rizqika aftart fa taqabbal minnee innaka antas sami'ul aleem This hadith reported by Abi Dawood, Hadith Mursal, but some scholars don't recognize it as authentic. There is another also narration in Abi Dawood and others, Thahab ath-thama' wa talatil urooq wa thabat al ajru insha Allah. But also, there is a huge debate between the scholars of hadith. Many of them don't recognize this as a hadith sahih. Some said it's hasan, like Ibn Hajar and others.
But anyway, all these hadith will not be free of weakness in it. That's why I do believe that whatever you say, even if you say these duas, it is ok, or any other dua you can do at the time you break your fast. May Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'aala accept from all of us.
